OWTC MEETING

SEPTEMBER 12, 2007

The meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Kramer.  All officers were present.

Reports from the officers were as follows:

Membership (Andre Bothe) Beginning October 2006 we had 93 members

and to date we have 105 members.  Thanks to Corey who recruited 5 or 6 members.

Tournament chairperson (Vyeann Jones)  Play dates from this year were a huge success.  We had 31 members participate in the last fun day.  Our next fun day will be on Friday, September 28 and another one is planned for a Saturday in December.  We will have a member-guest fun day next year on Saturday, March 8, 2008.

Treasurer (Carolyn Abadie)  As of October 1, 2006 we had a balance of $9,716.45.  To date we have $14,193.44 which includes the Francis McDonough fund of $2,569.30 leaving a balance of $11,624.08.

Secretary (Shirley Toner)  Members voted on dispensing with the reading of the minutes.  President Kramer suggested we put the minutes on the website from now on so all members can read them.

President Kramer reported that Buddy Broussard will try to renegotiate the court fees.  We now pay $1400.00 per month and the men’s club pays $2800.00 per month.

Emily Garland suggested that we lower the dues since we have a surplus in the treasury.  Carol Abadie advised we could not look at the balance as a surplus considering the membership could go up and down and that would change the balance.

President Kramer thanked Myra Ruiz for the wonderful banquet. It was a great success.

Vyeann also thanked the grounds committee for their help with the fun days and the telephone calls to members to remind them about the meeting.  We had a really good attendance of 40 members for the meeting today.

Dawn Smith asked if we could have a list of members and their phone numbers.  Vyeann stated she has such a list and would be glad to fax it to anyone who wants it.  Just call her and give her your fax number.

President Kramer discussed the amendment to the by-laws concerning the officers not paying dues. The amendment would change to all officers and the web master paying 50% of annual dues.  Members voted on the change and passed it.

Anne Lea commented on FEMA.  They concluded the administration building was not suitable for repairs.  The park received  a one million dollar grant to redo areas of the park such as the casino and the tennis center building.

Wilma Longstreet commented on the weeds on the hard courts and asked if something could be done to get rid of them.  Mary Stein said some of the lights on the rubico courts need to be replaced.  Carolyn said she would refer the matters to Corey.

Marilyn Brandt was in charge of the nominating committee and had asked all the officers if they would remain for another year.  All agreed.  Carolyn asked for nomination from the floor and there were none. The officers for the coming year will be as follows:
